Default Gap in Road Glide Fairing?

I'm converting my batwing to a RG fairing and after assembling the outer fairing to the inner, there is about a 1/16" gap where they join. The gap is about the same on both sides and the front area is slightly less. I made sure everything is lined up properly and reinstalled everything a few times, but can't get rid of the gap. Is this normal??

There are locator tabs along the edge. Take it loose and readjust, you'll get it.

There is a rubber welt strip that attaches to the inner part of the fairing. Is that been put back on yet (can't see from pic)?

Otherwise, check for interference from the inside (Use a super bright flashlight) by inspecting the inner/outer fairing seam as it is now (don't remove thefairing) and see if something is in the way.

That picture is taken at the top of the outer fairing where it creates a dash area behind the windsheild. This gap is normal. As long as the fairing fits nicely down the sides where the black plastic trim goes then you have everything right. Once the winsheild is installed you will hardly notice this gap.

Took me almost 4 hours to get the outer back on mine, first it wouldn't go onto the hook in the middle front. Finally realised the brackets on the engine bars were in the wrong place. I ended up removeing the lamps so I could see inside ( yes you can put them back in with the outer on ) and tightening everything up once it was assembled. A real PITA compared to a bat wing.

Kasper,

Yes the picture is at the top of the outer fairing behind the windshield. Do you have this gap on your RG? Seems like others are telling me to readjust the whole thing AGAIN! I have the rubber strips installed that others mention and I have checked the inner tab alignment 3 times. Seems like it's not going to close any tighter. It doesn't bother me, I'm just a bit worried about water getting into the inner fairing through the gap?? Because this is a brand new conversion from a batwing, everything is brand new and put together by myself rather than the factory, so maybe things need to settle in some??

As long as it is flush along the right and left sides it is good. Are you aware the fairing parts have tabs that are designed to fit on top of the inner fairing tabs? Like has been said, this is covered by the windscreen when installed. Don't worry about water running down there, everything is made to get wet. Your going to now find out how fun it is to get the windscreen on, did you buy extra rubber nuts? Oh, welcome to the club, you'll love it, and the bucks you saved.

ride to a dealer - ask for a tech to take a look... ????????

and for 88B = next time take the headlight OUT and install the outer fairing - goes on VERY easy, then 'snap' the headlight in place... I learned this trick Before I tried to install the outer... it Works...
