if you don't want to go the HID route, try a PIAA bulb. same current draw as stock but 100-110 watts vs. 55 or so. Plenty bright for me but i haven't tried it on a pitch dark country road yet.

The Stock Bulbs in the later model pasing lamps are modular 881s and have an output of 27W each.
They can be replced with 898s, which are 37.5w each, or 886s that are 55W each.
We upgraded to the 55W and appreciate the increased ligh output.
You can also upgrade the headlight to the dual bulb halagon unit that is in the P&A Book.
