Handlebars
I,m 5'8 and used the Road King high bars. As someone stated over on the delphi forums there is a comparison of the diffrent bars. The high bars IMHO were the best for me. $50 was a great price also. Best part was No cable change's at all. I did the work myself and saved a boat load of $$. It was easy, and I just took my time. BTW if your looking at changing the grips also. Kill 2 bird with one stone and do it at the same time.
Good Luck

I thought they might be a possibility also, until I read the description:

Is there really a difference between an 01' and 07'?

It may have cost more , but the Wild 1 518 bars are the best money that I spent on this bike. As for cables, if you went with the 518 bars, you would need 4 inches over stock throttle cables (a stock RK is 39", you would need 43". The stock clutch cable and brake will work fine (but you may want to change the clutch cable anyways, if you are going with braided). For cables contact either compay listed below. You will probably get quality braided (and coated) cables for around $150 total, which is about a 3rd of the price of the same cables from HD.
With all the touring memebrs on herethat havethe Wild 1 518 bars, I'd find it hard to believe you wouldn't like them. I was in the same boat as you and found a huge difference when I switched. There is also the Wild 1 508 bars, but they come back a little too far and are a bit too close together (picture a Wheelbarrow) IMHO. Good Luck.

Just like Boxs, I put heritage bars on my Roadglide last Saturday.
About 3 inches more rise and about 1 1/2 inches more pullback.
I'm 5' 11' andthey couldn't be more perfect. No more leaning foward.
I used part number 56623-99.
The only problem was my localparts dickdidn't want to sell them to me.
He insisted that I wouldn't like them and needed to get 1 1/4 bars with internal wiring, all new stainless cables, new wiring harness, and new mounts to fit the large diameter bars. Then of couse let them install them for about $1200 bucks. Not even close, I just laughed.
It only took about a half hour. It's very easy on a Roadglide if you cut away the cover by the rear clamp bolts alittle with a dremel. It's covered by the top of the instument case. It took me longer to adjust the mirrors. An added plus, the bars are also wider so when I try to use the mirrors I don't just see my shoulders. I can actually see behind me.

Wildones 508 rock.. I'f you don't have factory cruise save yourself a whole lot of soldering/pinning headaches and purchase the extended cable kit (70239-07). i.e it comes with 60" of pinned wire and the controls/housing. You'll pay $$$$ for it but soldering (my opinion) is a pain and if you intended on pinning (molex male mx150) forget it unless you have a $250 molex tool (the cheap economy tools are just that - cheap and useles)If you have the fly by wire set-up I'd suggest getting the Twist Grip Sensor kit for internally wired bars - it comes ascontinuous length of wire without the green six pin connection - a real *&^*& to get through the bars especially if you've soldered wires - it's doable I did it but a pain - but wow those 508's are great - I'm 5'4" on a good day so the pull back rocks.
I was worried about what the book said also but took the plunge on my 05 RK. They worked great. The only thing I had to do was bend a small curve in the brake line (with my hand). Don't forget to put a piece of cardboard in the brake lever before taking the assembly off.

Well I ended up ordering these for my 07'. They came today. I started on them at 1630, and was done by 1900. No throttle cable issues, no clutch cable issues, everything is free (no binding), and I am NOT stretched out hanging on to the bars for dear life!
Took it for a ride, and was a world of difference!!!
Thanks all for your input and thoughts!!!!
Ricky
did it on my 05rkc trick is to find bars that are a little narower then u can get more pull back WITHOUT worrying about cable wire and brake line length it will save a lot of cash and time the only HIDDEN cost is the grips u will have to cut the left side one its glued on . the bars ran 50 bukcs the grips were 90!
ya, I took a metal piece I had about .080 in diamter, and ran it up and down under the left grip. Then I heated the end with a hair dryer, and was able to twist it off.
I did'nt care about the price but ride to work and back everyday it does not rain. I wanted to ride tomorrow, and didn't have new grips.
I glued er back on to the new set!!
