I've used aGarmin 2620 Street Pilot for three years without any problems. As it has a hard drive, Garmin doesn't recommend this for bikes. However, it's water proof and been in heavy rains. I've dropped it five feet in a boat after hitting a big wave and it's never missed a beat. I purchased a Ram Mount and it's on the right-hand of the handlebar on my 2008 Ultra Classic. I wired it into the back of the cigarette lighter. Works like a champ!

Like Tex said, if the vibration doesn't kill it, moisture will. You can use any car GPS on the bike but the mounting is another issue. I bought a Garmin StreetPilot for the cage and the way it mounts, no way you could mount it on a bike because it just barely pops into the slot which is also the power source built in. I'm sure you could reinforce it or secure it in some way but why not just pony up the dough and go with a proven unit like the Zumo.

I haven't had any dealings with Tom-Tom but I can tell you from experience, Garmin WILL stand behind their product. My unit was damaged (it fell off the dash from the suction mount) and I emailed Garmin to have it repaired. I told them exactly what happened and it was nota warranty issue. They sent me a brand new mount (nothing wrong with my old one), then on top of that, they replaced my unit with a brand new one, no charge! I only paid about $6 to send it to them to be repaired, they sent it back with the mount prepaid. Now THAT'S customer service!

Get the Zumo, it's well worth the money and you also get great support from Garmin, how could you go wrong?

Wife went behind my back and bought a Garmin 250w for me for Christmas. I made a mount for it, which I posted last week. I,ve used it for about 600 miles so far. Yes, I know it's not rain/water proof. I take it off if it starts to rain or put a bag over it. I'm not planning on riding that far in unfamiliar territory when it's raining. Worst case, I'll stop and get out a map.

My Garmin 2610 has a setting for car or motorcycle. I haven't used in on the bike yet. Just got a ram mount.
