I remember this being discussed before but unable to find it on search. One cone has changed color from black to a bronze. I thought some were able to get free replacement cones. I attempted to contact Rhinehart through their web-site e-mail system but no response.
They replace them under warranty as long as you have bought them in the last year but you are better off just getting some aftermarket ones . The new ones turn too. There is also somebody on this forum that powder coats them.
The engine temperature definitely has an effect. I adjusted my SERT and now it is fairly "cool". The tips still turned purpley-red. I had them replaced this winter under warranty.
I thought the tips changed color due to the bike being too lean?
Thats what I thought. My bike is not lean at all and my tips , I thought mine were fine. I had read at one time that UV rays had a lot to do with them changing colors, I thought that was bunk. Well on closer inspection I could see where the tops of my tips were starting to change colors while the underside of them were still nice and black.
