The only mechanic I trust at the local dealership told me that a Stage 1 on my 08 will increase performance but don't expect it to lower the engine temp. Is this true?

 

He is probably right if you use the crappy "stage 1 download" that the dealer offers instead of a good fuel managment system like a SERT, PCIII, Thundermax, Fuelpack etc. Do it right and your bike will cool down and run much better.

The EPA make the moco run em lean which produces a ton of heat.

 

+1 on what he said. Even after adding one of the other fuel management devices, it is not going to be cool. Just not as hot.
