Sounds like the cruise control module to me, more so then the Throttle by wire servo..... I have an 08 no Cruise, andhaveNo problems with the hundreds of thousands of others! Had one of the first 08s bought in September 07 to deliver to Portland. Had this bike just as long as anyone with an 08and has roughly 8K miles.
As withany manufacturer of anything, there my be a few exceptions. Just deal with them. The sky is not falling... Its probably a pinched wire at the switched controls or something highly simple, like they are being bumped by the rider.
When these few bikes reportedapparentlyrun off, they will disengage with a tap of the brake. Should that fail anyone, last I ckecked there was a shut off thumb switch on the handle bar. It would take a moron to ride out a self inducedfull throttle to his owndeath............. If your bike has done this QUIT RIDING IT UNTIL ITS FIXED BY A DEALER, if you decide to ride it anyway thenKEEP YOUR CRUISE CONTROL OFF........OR DISCONNECT IT! Common sense is not so common they say.
Some just do not seem happy unless there is something f!cked up with their bike or Harley Davidson in General[sm=boohoo.gif] But you can take this to the bank, anything you might buy might fail and need a repair.... Get over it.
great... I have an 08 FLTR coming... not only do I have to watch out for random rodents and cage drivers, I need to worry about the bike taking off on me..

wow three fbw cruise post this close together this looks like an epidemic sure hope my 08 don't run away on me going down the rode
I looked at most of your post and didn't see any about you having throttle problems and getting a new bike out of it! Then you say in your second quote you hope it doesn't happen to you. Some people are looking for answers about the TWB "problem" why don't you tell us what your experence was with your first bike.
Mine works awesome! Cruise and everything! I think you guys are crazy... If anything the accel switch is getting stuck in the accel position with all the vibration and stuff.. This would cause cruise to engage (assuming the main switch is turned on) and keep accellerating as long as the switch stays in the accel position.. Not hard to believe with the vibration at the handle bars. Maybe Harley should just stiffen the spring stiffness at the switch? I think epidemic is a bad exaggeration. None of my friends with 08's have had a problem.. Ride on!
