Since you have some time before the event try and do a long ride on the weekend
Plan a big loop over your local area, like 300 miles, and get the feel for being on your bike all day. On the weekends my co-worker and I ride 300 - 400 miles around our area.
I usally google map a route and then put it in the gps and off we go.
We stop at different HD dealers, somewhere for lunch, and just enjoy riding around some backroads. I would say ride, but it is up to you. If you do trailer you won't be doing much riding when you get there since the place will be PACKED.

It is up to you, don't let us talk you into something you are not comfortable with.

Take a couple of days.... if you've been to one bike week... you've pretty much been to all of them.... Loop west through PA (beautiful state) hit western VA (again beautiful) NC then SC....take your time, enjoy your bike and great weather.....

edited to add: a 400-600 mile day is a nice day ride for lunch... Raleigh to Peaks of otter, then down the BRP to Fancy Gap, then turn for home....

I have ridden from Toronto three years in a row. 1500 miles.. in two days. On a Dyna, not a King. And I am 60. Go for it. You will be happy you did.

Man, I wasn't even planning on going to Myrtle Beach for bike week, and after reading this thread, I think I'm gonna ride too!

Man, when is MB anyway, until this Road King Classic fell in my lap a couple weeks ago, I had no idea I'd have a bike come bike week! I think I have company in town from the 13th-19th, which I think overlaps the week, funny thing is, I'm scheduled to be in MB for something completely unrelated on the 22nd-25th...

Trailiering your bike to bike week does not count!!!!

No really, if your physical condition will not allow you to do it, then by all means, trailer it. I am not at that point yet, so I always ride to everywhere I go. Don't trailer just for the sake of trailering though.

Why of course ride down there, if I wasn't going to ride to an event I damn sure wouldn't take a bike. Once you are there the ridin sucks. If you don't have time to ride down just drive down and don't bother bringing a bike.
I always thought that the reasons for bike week ect was for the journey getting there, guess I'm just gettin old.

and yep I'm 61 and still ride everywhere I go

SpringerGT has the answer. Do what ever turns your crank. If you don't have time or cannot make the ride in one day, trailer it. Just go and have fun. You can buy one of the "I rode my bike to trailer week" tee shirts too. Have fun, that is what it is all about. It is not an "Iron Butt" contest.

Remember that on a long ride like this you might be tempted to not drink much so you don't have to make pitstops. You will dehydrate before you know it, even in cooler weather. Be sure to drink enough (on long trips I stop every 100-120miles and get gas/water), and pack some high protein snacks in case you get weak later in the day.

Sounds like a fun ride!
