I am going toinstall my Zumo 550 GPS with a mirror mount. I have a choice, either mount the GXM 30Antenna under the fairing on the radio, or mount it outside on an adapter that is in between the Zumo and mirror mount. Which should I use under the fairing or outside on the adapter?
I have the GXM under the fairing with no issues. The question is if you plan on taking the ZUMO from vehicle to vehicle then you'll want it outside the fairing.
Mine is due today form theUPS man. I am going to be putting it under the fairing also. My question is I have covered the inner fairing with Dynamat. Do you think it will hurt reception?
I will have the answer in about 3 hours when I get home. Just wondering.....
I have mine on the adapter between the Zumo and the mount. I would consider doing yours this way if you are going to be moving the Zumo from your bike to a car. Taking the outer fairing off to get it off of the radio sounds like a pain to me.

Well, it works under the fairing. But with the Dynamat the strengh meter is flashing between 2 and 3 bars.
You guys with it under the fairing, are you holding 3 bars all the time in open roads?
I might look into doing it in the saddle bag.
