I just installed a Smart Siren (#68328-02)on my 06 SG. Everything is very straight forward, plug and play. I made sure it was put back together correctly with no pinching wire. However, when I activated my alarm, I only get the usual flashing lights, no audible sound at all. [&:]Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.
RE: Trouble installing Smart Siren, any suggestions?
According to the instructions:
Note The siren may not function properly when first installed......the battery may need a few charging cycles to regain full capacity. To charge the NIMH battery, operate the motorcycle for a minimum of 4 hours.

Thanks for the suggestions. Has anyone else encountered the same problem when installing the siren? Do all the sirens need recharging before they will work? Another rider told me his siren worked right off the bat when plugged in. I just want to make sure mine is not defective.

Yes, I installed mine last Saturday night....only got lights flashing although I did get it to communicate with the pager fine. I didn't start getting the "chirps" when security is activated/deactivated until I took it out for a ride Monday afternoon (I had the bike on the battery tender all weekend).

Mine worked out of the box, but "They lose as much as 1%-2% of charge per day, and after a few months of storage at room temperature will be mostly discharged" My dealer is realively new so not much of the stock has been sitting around. Good excuse to go for a ride! Can't hurt to try.
