Default Two part lower fairing question

I recently added vented lowers to my SG.

First question; is there a way to tighten the vent so it don't vibrate open or closed. I looked around for some type of adjustment but didn't notice any.

Second question; was finally in the low 70's today in NJ. I was stuck in some traffic for a while but the last 10 minutes of the ride was under normal riding conditions. The oil temp got up to 244 degrees. Never seen it that high before. In summer months the oil temp usually runs around 220 - 230.
Is it normal for lowers to add this much heat? Can't imagine what will happen when the outside temp hits 90 degrees.

Street,

The vents on the lowers have "catches" at various intervals to hold it in the desired position. I've never had mine move without my permission.

Secondly, I personally keep my lowers on year-round here in SW Louisiana. It's hot, but anything is hot at >100 degrees w/a heat index, I just keep moving. HD does make some quick detachable hardware for the lowers if you need the frequency of being able to remove/replace them though.

Also, keep your radiator flushed and a good 50/50 concentration of high quality antifreeze and that should ward off the heat demons.[8D]

There is a nut in the middle of the round handle part up at the top (you can grab this round handle to turn the vent open or closed). Just tighten it a little, but be careful not to do too much...and eighth or quarter turn should be enough to keep them from opening on its own.

I live in the desert where temps in the summer are between 100 to 110. I remove my lowers in the summer and put them on in the fall. I also removed the vents to allow more air to pass over the motor. My bike really heats up with the lower fairings on.
