Adding lowers to SG. How does it affect engine temp?
I've been thinking of adding Vented Lowers to my 2010 SG. If I do this, what effect will this have on engine operating temperature? I'm sure the airflow will be a little different, so it might effect engine temp. Just wondering what your experiences have been
fairing lowers will lower oil temp measured at the pan about 25º with ambient temps at 105º. ( no oil cooler on the bike)

Yep the lowers actually help cool the motor as it channels more air into and across the motor. The potential downside is there maybe more warm/hot air being felt by the rider. This is great during the cold weather but can be nuisance during the hot summer
I have never thought to pit my heat gun to the test on that. However as far as add'n lowers. I did. I love them. I will never take them off,or have another SG with out them. I must say if if u leave out on a cool am with them closed and come warm up u forget to at least crack'm open 1/2 way ur feet will be sweat'n in ur boots. I run mine closed if its under 60 degrees. Soon as it hits mid 60s + u better start open'n them.
I feel a lot more heat on my legs compaired to not having lowers on. This is my first season having them and I had to check all my fluid levels thinking something was wrong. Removed the lowers and the issue was solved. I still leave them on most of the time to help with buffering and a little more storage.

Huh. I have the soft lowers and is says in the instructions to remove them if the temp is >70F. (by memory.) the lowers must direct air and cool motor.
I didn't consider them with the 120r and potential heat issues.
Good to know.
(and another part to lust after... Crap)
