Having run both TD and FC there are plus and minus to both.
First off the Rhinehardt TD is an awsome pipe. Great sound, great look and runs cooler. The down fall is the pipe didn't kick in until 2800 rpm. If you watch where you ride this was just outside my cruise range. So i took a hit in torque in the cruise range.
FC: race car sounding.... hot on the right side... Kicks in early around 2100 rpm. This puts the torque in my cruise range and pulls thru out. I do miss the sound of the TD and the cooler running but you can not beat the performance.
If i was running a 113 and would be a non-issue .... I would run the TD.... but since I only have a 95" I prefer to have the low end torque. There has been discussion of wrapping the FC to run cooler. There is a local guy who says he has wrapped them with good results. I'll have to try it once I get the bike back from the shop.
I replied to your last post thinking we had the same year ('06) Streeter. Sorry.
I just finished putting on a set of V&H TruDuals w/fishtails on my wife's '07 Heritage. They work great with no detectable loss of low end. This bike makes more power everywhere and sounds terrific not to mention the weight saved. They come with straight cut end caps but youcan get slashes or fishtails as extras. Also done was a Big Sucker and Nightrider IED's. With hardly any miles on it yet it has a little decel pop but nothing big. If it doesn't clean up after some mileage I'll add an SERT and some dyno time.
While there are those who maintain a 2-1 makes more low end (and some of them do)it has more to do with the combination ofcamsand pipe. I've run both typesover the years and can't tell the difference on a stock bike.If you like the look of 2 pipes then do it that way. I doubt you'll ever be unhappy.
As stated several times in this post and 100's of other post's. On a pretty much stock engine you may not be able to tell the difference between the 2-2 or the 2-1. But as soon as you start to build the engine BB, Head work, cams, ect the difference is NIGHT & DAY. The 2-1 will pull so much more harder from idle to red line then the True duals ever will.... OH and My Road King is far from sounding like a Jap BIKE....
True Duals are for Pickup Trucks and Muscle Cars.....
I have VH True Duals with VH slipons. Wow! I love these pipes. They are loud!Probably because both pipes are equal. Alot of people had said that they sound tinny, but I have to disagree. I would say they are deep sounding.I have not heard the Rineharts to compare, but have heard they have a deep rumble to them too. I can't say to if they made a difference in power,as I had mine installed before I even rode my bike for the first time.
I have Bassani True Duals with Rush 2" baffles. I have TQ down low. I would think I would gain some TQ and HP going to a 2 into 1, but I am not sure how much. I guess I could try a 2 into 1 to see, but I am very happy with what I got.
OTOH, if anyone is willing to let me borrow a 2 into 1 AND spring for a tune in the Richmond, VA or CHantilly, VA area, I would volunteer my bike [8D]
Been there done that! Took off tru-duals and went to a 'Trapp 2-1 and gained 5hp as well as 8 lb ft of torque! Changed exhaust and retuned!! This is on my 95" Ultra!!
