Just don't spray it with a hard shot of water. When I wash that area, I use the mist setting on the hose nozzle, which I believe someone had already mentioned. Been doing that for 6 seasons with this bike and no problems yet!
And stay out of the rain. don't won't it to get wet. Seriously though, just be reasonable when washing. Don't use a pressure washer and you will be ok.
Bigtank, Do a search on bike cleaners and you'll find a whole lot of different stuff out there like, S-100. Honda Brite, Protect all and even Pledge, jusrt to name a few. Good luck..."D"

If your that worried about it,just tape some saran wrap over the radio.
Been washing mine for for over 2 years.Water has sprayed on the radio many times and have had no problems.
