I have a 06 RKC with the stock seat. I am looking for a more comfortable for the wife. Any suggestions? If possible I would like to keep using the stock removable passenger back rest.
I took off my stock seat and put on a HD Sundowner solo. Loved it for 2 years and now it's killing my ***. I'm probably gonna sell it and buy myself a Mustang solo. Try a Mustang with bigger passenger pillion.
Squid, first of all, welcome to the boards. I have a similar problem, however, my wife is a casual, 'hour or less' passenger. I am thinking I am going to get a solo seat, then send the stock to Mean City (www.meancitycycles.com) to get the seat re-worked. I know the passenger back rest will work with that seat, and there are a lot of people on this board who swear by Mean City.
Now I just have to decide which solo to get so I can put the plan in motion. No way I won't have a seat at this time of year.....
Also, you will quickly find people will demand pics of your scoot (we all need to know if we should be jealous and/or steal your good ideas... lol)
Hey Curlydee,
On that Mustang; is it the touring or sport touring you have? How thick is the passenger part? I'm running an HD tallboy now, and sitting on the back, my 5'3" wife can't touch the floorboards even with them all the way up.
just put a mustang sport tour on my 08 sg wife loves it pushed me up about an inch which i needed ill go measure the hgt. on pass. 4 in. i only have 60 or so miles onit but already better than the stock hd seat got it from westend motorsports 4 days great price no shipping or tax good luck
I pitched that piece of crap stock seat after about 100 miles and got a Mustang solo with a back restand the big back seat for my wife. It works great!!
I wasn't impressed by the looks of that tallboy, but hey, it came with the bike. I have now put over 650 miles on the machine in the last 3 weeks, and I have to say, it ain't a bad seat. Gives pretty good lower back support without an add on driver's backrest. My better half is only good for an hour or so at a time anyway, but I don't necessarily want to keep the 2nd bike (a big rice cruiser you don't wanna hear about) just to take her for a putt now and then.
