Hey guys I got this new thing my wife picked out but it mounts on the front fender. After looking at it looks like the best way to get the fender off is to just pull the front wheel. This makes me a little nervous for obvious reasons. Is there anything I need to know before doing this? You guys have never let me down.
I have a short memory. By the way It is the chrome bore with the red lighted eyes that mounts on the front fender. I just want to make sure that I don't screw anything up by pulling the front wheel.
I just removed my fender. Here is how I did it. There was a metal plate the four bolts mounted through which had the four corners bent in to not allow the bolts to back out. I was able to bendthe ends straight and take the bolts out. The fender mounting tabs will rub on the legs if you try to pull it out so I was abletoputsome blue painters tape over the outside of the fender in these areas. Remove one side and tape before removing the bolts from the other side. Gently slide the fender out and make sure when you pull it out you are using even pressure and holding the fender straight. Leave the tape on when you slide it back in and remove before you bolt it back up. I was able to bend the tabs back into the bolts but some locktite should do the trick.
you know it never ceases to amaze me. How many of you will go out and spend
roughly $20k on a new bike, but are to damn lazy or CHEAP to buy the service
manual to go with it.
