Very interested in putting a bat wing detachable on my Road King. Would enjoy the tunes, and the extra protection for long rides. I've found at least 6 different vendors that all claim theirs is the best. Anybody out there done this, and would you please provide your recommendations? Interested in best value, as in quality and price, not just price. How did you make your decision? Thanks for your input in advance. CCRyder
I had a Ken Day fairing last year. It was ok for the price but I wanted some tunes and a finished innner fairing. I did alot of web surfing and finallly decided on the Firebagger. I am a little disapointed that it is made overseas, but I really liked the way the inner looked and it accepts HD windshields. Plus the price was the best. Painted black with the radio was 1309. I decided to pull the trigger on it based on others reports on this forum, said it was a quality piece. If the quality is as good as my Jap made snowmobile, it will be top notch.
I bought a Dragonfly(got a never used at half price). I wanted one because I liked the inner side better then the others. Locking wasn't important to me. I also listened to the tunes on hoppe/DF/Deadcenter at Sturgis last year and thought the sounds of the 6x9's were the best. Can't really go wrong any of these. The newer ones on the market are cheaper and most getting them are giving good reviews.
Went with the Dead Center fairing cause it will use all the accesories that a stock HD batwing will use, and its "American" made, and it locks. Bought mine stereo ready and put my own equipment in it.
does anyone know of a company that will shell a detachable one without the radio setup i have a police rk and i want to leave my tach where it is ..just need a shell nothing fancy.just for the winter
bigsky, I just got done installing a fairing on my bike. I try to be as cheap as I can and was lucky to find a used dragonfly for 100. Better than that it was already painted to match my bike. its the model before the 6x9's were installed and it seemed to fit ok. I didn't have to move the spotlights like many here have mentioned. There was no radio cut into the inner fairing, but there was holes for the speakers. The costs for the speakers to be installed by a shop was pricey, but I don't have alot invested either. I looked at many differeny brands and like said, they all claim to be better than the others. Personally I think they all differ enough to make them unique to certain situations, but offer the same protection from the wind. I also bought some new lower fairings and had them painted. Looks pretty good, and stands out from the other roadies around. Good Luck
