My pipes are a little loud now with the mods I did over the winter. Need to quiet it down a little bit to get a sticker and be legal. I love the sound, but I dont want any trouble with the fuzz. They are really cracking down around here now.
I've also heard I can pick up some more torque as well.
So my question is... does anyone have them, and if so - do the baffles quiet it TOO much??? Did you notice a difference in performance?
The winter of '05 / '06 I up graded from an 88 ci to a 103 ci on my '03 Ultra.
It was a screaming eagle strocker kit offered that year in the HD catalog.
I also went with the Rinehart TD. They came equipted with 2.25" baffles, I also purchased the Performance baffles. I put the Performance baffles in and rode maybe 50 to 100 miles and decided that I wanted to enjoy my hog tunes speakers upgrade that I also did at about the same time. I mostly tour long distance and will spend 10 and more hours a day on the bike and like having the tunes. I never thought I would, but I do.So anyway, finally I took out the Performance baffles and put the baffle that came with the set up and I could hear the tunes better. Although, I ordered the 3rd choice of baffles for the rinehart TDsand they are a little bit quieter yet. Now I have 40k miles on them and they are showing there age, I will soon put the baffles in that came with the system to begin with and they will now probably sound quieter than the "aged & worn" quietest baffles. LOL I sold the Perfomance baffles last fall.
I plan to milk a couple more summers out of them, before I replace the pipes or maybe the whole bike. By the end of this year I should have near or slightly over 100k miles on the bike and about 70k on the motor upgrade and the pipes. My extended warranty expires in July of 2009, by then I'll have at least 120k miles on the bike and some where over 90k on the motor upgradeand withthe rineharts as well. The unused baffles that will go in now should hold out that long, I hope anyway.
I have Rineharts now but not the performance baffles. I thought the performance baffleswill gain hp not so much torque, freer flowing and louder. The quiet baffles are supposed to up the torque and drop the hp slightly.
You could wrap the baffles you have to quiet them down without changing the performance much.
I put turn downs on mine and that does muffle them down alot.
i am waiting for my quiet baffles to arrive, was having trouble with the rinehart chirp running up and down I-79. was told by brad at rinehart that there is only 3db different and it should eliminate the chirp but would give my a little more torque.
I got the performance baffles. I think the regular Rinehart true duals were too quiet. The performance baffles made them a lot louder but there is an annoying rattle sound on decel. I am going back to stock Rinehart baffles. I am looking into the www.bigcitythunder.combaffles. They are supposed to be way better.
I've spent hours on the phone with Rinehart on this subject, according to them the performance baffles will quiet the bike down a little bit, they have more restriction to increase back pressure for the motor than the stock baffles do. The loudest baffles are the ones that come stock with the mufflers.
I ordered a set of big city thunder baffles for the head pipeyesterday, I'm hoping to have them on this weekend. anyone with stock baffles they want to sell, give me a shout. I'm in the market.
thanks .

I tried the quiet baffles to get rid of the chirp...It doesn't work. Bub finally refunded my money on the Rinehart True Duels. I put on V&H Big Shots and the chirp went away.
Ya - I was told that the baffles that come with the pipes are the loudest. That is why I am gonna try the "performance" ones. They said it should quiet it down 3db's and give more back pressure, which will give a little more torque. I just dont want to quiet the bike TOO much. I guess 3db's isn't the end of the world - lol.
I do notice the "chirp", but it doesn't bother me too much. I love the sound of these pipes - especially when your into it! [8D]
