Speakers Once Again!
I have been reading the post on Ultra speakers. I have an 05 Ultra which i guess has an 8ohm system. I installed ALpine car speakers that say 4ohm. Can this hurt my radio? Also, it seems that my speakers have to turned all the way up when going down the road and they still don't seem loud enough. Could me using 4ohm speakers on an 8ohm system cause this?

Yes it is more than likley the fact you have 4 ohm speakers vice 8 ohm. I am suprised you didn't blow the 4 ohm. Its is all simple electronics E=I/R therefore the r in this case was reduced from 8 to 4. Put in some 8 ohm and listen to the difference.

The HD radio uses an amplifier chip that will "roll itself back" to protect itself. Our in lab testing showed that the HD radio could handle a 4 ohm load without issue. It was only at 2 ohms, that the power output dropped alot (about 13 watts/channel) and heated up.
Although we offer a 5.75 ohm speaker, your 4 ohm speakers should not cause you any issue
