No problems with mine, I do cover it with plastic wrap when washing the bike since hearing of the problemsothers have had here on the forum. But have been caught riding in some downpours with no problems.
I had heard that they have improved the electronic dipstick. Maybe about a year ago?
Anyway, I've had mine for a couple months and no problems. I haven't ridden in a long, steady rain yet - but have washed the bike several times and didn't particularly avoid that part of the motor when spraying it down with my garden hose.
It sure makes it a hell of a lot easier to check your oil level!
Mine's several months old & works just fine. It gets wet in the rain, it gets wet when I wash the bike, & it's still workin'. Just another little note about oil gauges, I just installed an oil temp gauge in my fairing. I've read quite a few posts about people runnin' 180/190 degree oil which I believe to be low. Well, the first couple times out my new gauge read 180/190 while the dipstick gauge read 210/212. Got to thinkin' about it & realized the sensor for the remote gauge is at the edge of the oil bucket, & mounted in a heat sink. The dipstick is in the middle of the oil pool. On a longer ride yesterday the remote gauge got closer to the temp of the dipstick, but remained a little low.
