Dog,

There are all kinds of opinions here. Most negative you'll find are from peeps that have 06 or earlier models bagging on the newer 07-08. Do they run hot? Yes! But it's an air cooled engine with VERY LARGE pistons. Stage 1 or any aftermarket programmers will cool it down. Is 5th gear loud? Yes! But there is nothing mechanically wrong with it. 5th uses straight cut gears. Ever heard the tranny in a race car? Same thing. I kind of like it. The added 6th gear is awesome.

I was in the same boat as you, but decided on the 07 because of the Higher resale value, Bigger Motor, 6th Gear, Easy pull Clutch. I didn't want the 08 due to the fly by wire throttle and even higher EPA Regs. The new 08 Tank and Seat are not interchangeable with 07 and earlier models. Most dealers are very reluctant to do any motor upgrades on the 08's. Not even exhaust here in Socal. BUT!!! The 08's are turning out to be very trouble free also... That extra 1 gallon of gas would be sweet.

Just my $.02... I've had 0 issues with my 07. Could not be happier!

Very well said!

My '08 does not seem hotter than any other air cooled bike, and with the 6 gal, 6 speed, brembo stopping power house... you do the math.

My 07 Fat Boy ran a little hot but I just used the lame Fuel Pak with my Vance and Hines big radius pipes. I have the Sert, download, and Rineharts on my 08 SG and it runs great.

Those are probably the same mechanics with their heads up their azz that said buy a shovel not an evo and buy an evo not a tc.

Buy an 08 if you can afford it. If not buy an 07.

Heat, noise, trans problems, needs IDS; all BS. It's a friggin Harley. When you put a powerful internal combustion engine between your legs it is not going to be the same as getting into a fetal position with your teddy bear between your thighs. Just mt thoughts. [8D]

Dog,

As you're very well aware of, everyone has an opinion. And now your asking for more.

I have a 08' Streetglide. I live in Southern California. The bike is Air Cooled. There are times when you feel the heat.

I don't see much difference between it and the others I've owned.

Bigger tank, Stereo, ABS.... I'm very happy.

Had an 06.. cams, exhaust, SERT and so on.. nice bike, ran great. I do my own maps with theTS II and WEGOIIID.

Bought an 07 POSE Ultra (below). No IDS, removed the Hookers (went back to stock cat muffs for now) have a SERT but don't use it. Removed the ECM and put in on the shelf with the SERT.

Installed the TMax/auto and let it rock. 40+ MPG and great throttle response. Plugs are looking great too. No heat issues, 5th gear whine lets me know I have one more gear, 1st gear whine reminds me there ain't no more gears left at a light.

Just to be honest, I hated the bike when I first got it because I was used to the 06 RK. The more I ride the POSE I look back and wonder why I thought that.

To finish up... +3 as stated above.
