Love, Love, Love, my 07 ECG with NO IDS and stock pipes. No issues with nearly 9,000 miles. Every year there will be things people like and don't like and there will always be that unique bike that will always be a problem. Toyota's break too! Buy what you can afford. Period. If you can afford new, do it. Nothing like a new bike. If not keep shopping till you find what you like and what you can afford. The more I find out about many (not all or most) HD mechanics, the more I am convinced they should find another occupation.

Had an 06.. cams, exhaust, SERT and so on.. nice bike, ran great. I do my own maps with theTS II and WEGOIIID.

Bought an 07 POSE Ultra (below). No IDS, removed the Hookers (went back to stock cat muffs for now) have a SERT but don't use it. Removed the ECM and put in on the shelf with the SERT.

Installed the TMax/auto and let it rock. 40+ MPG and great throttle response. Plugs are looking great too. No heat issues, 5th gear whine lets me know I have one more gear, 1st gear whine reminds me there ain't no more gears left at a light.

Just to be honest, I hated the bike when I first got it because I was used to the 06 RK. The more I ride the POSE I look back and wonder why I thought that.

To finish up... +3 as stated above.
So you're running a T-Max with stock exhaust? What about your airbox?

Stro

It's an SE STG1 like yours... runsjust finewith the SE cat muffs.

The hookers decel rumble a little too much for me even while both are in the T modeand the stock Harley pipes at the muffs weren't properly rounded at the factory.. they left a real nice seam hump that caused the muffs to leak at their connections.. same with the cross over pipe.

Had afull exhaust systemoff of an 07 FLHRCUSE that were very nicely shaped so I changed the entire exhaust system out.

Bike is still under warranty but I don't care... Having a tough time considering which new muffs I want.

Dog,

There are all kinds of opinions here. Most negative you'll find are from peeps that have 06 or earlier models bagging on the newer 07-08. Do they run hot? Yes! But it's an air cooled engine with VERY LARGE pistons. Stage 1 or any aftermarket programmers will cool it down. Is 5th gear loud? Yes! But there is nothing mechanically wrong with it. 5th uses straight cut gears. Ever heard the tranny in a race car? Same thing. I kind of like it. The added 6th gear is awesome.

I was in the same boat as you, but decided on the 07 because of the Higher resale value, Bigger Motor, 6th Gear, Easy pull Clutch. I didn't want the 08 due to the fly by wire throttle and even higher EPA Regs. The new 08 Tank and Seat are not interchangeable with 07 and earlier models. Most dealers are very reluctant to do any motor upgrades on the 08's. Not even exhaust here in Socal. BUT!!! The 08's are turning out to be very trouble free also... That extra 1 gallon of gas would be sweet.

Just my $.02... I've had 0 issues with my 07. Could not be happier!
Dan

Very well said!

My '08 does not seem hotter than any other air cooled bike, and with the 6 gal, 6 speed, brembo stopping power house... you do the math.

OK, so you're running SE muffs or stock muffs?

Sorry for hijacking this thread... but to answer Stro

They are not the SE I or II's they are the heavystock 4" catalyst muff that you can get on any stock EG they just have heat shields.

I was thinking of the Bub 7 true duals or the equivalent Rinehart's but loud is getting old. I amthinking softer but with goodtorque numbers.Any advise? And.. since I live in a rural area just outside a major metropolitan and most of the guys out hereknow me, theycould hear me coming several miles away I don't want them to give me a pass and not others if you know what I mean.

As far as the TMax, they have plenty of maps with the STG 1 AC and stock muffs. I did reset the CLP offsets on the map to 10 and max to 25 so I think I can make that change with no worries and just ride. So far so good.

Again, sorry for the hijack. Quess we should take it to PM if needed.

I have an 06 Ultra with 24,000 miles and am so happy with it (completely stock) that I have no desire to closely examine the 07s or 08s.

I won't badmouth any of them cause I have no first hand knowledge. I just like what I've got.

I'd just say to be carefull of those that put down an entire year or model, even if they own one.
They always come off sounding of sour grapes or jealosy.
