Yep.. on club rides, long rides and interstate rides I wear my Seer. but for local jaunts around town I usually don't..
Even at 53 I want to keep my brains in my bucket.. Then there's the younger girlfriend.. She has the NO helmet mentality.. But I make her wear it on those rides..
Can't imagine why anyone would even contemplate riding without one...why aren't local jaunts any different? I tripped over the other week & clanged my head. Why would you even think about riding without one? Crazy..
Here in Florida the under 21 crowd now have a license plate for the bike that is white with red lettering and "UNDER 21" written on it. This is so the cops have a better idea of who is riding and if they are suppose to have a helmet on.
I noticed two years ago almost everyone wasn't wearing a Helmet on bikes, now it seems Like I see everyone wearing helmets. I came back from winter Haven yesterday and saw 30 bikes and only one was lidless. Is ther some new change in the law that has changed peoples attitude? May be a dumb question but, I have not heard of any change in the law.
I live and ride in SW Fl, and I see the opposite. Out of every 30 bikes I see, maybe 5 are wearing helmets and I'm not one of em'.
I'm from So. FL. Very few riders were their lids.... Foolish.!!!! Some rideralways dies or have a serious wreck while ridinig every week in So. FL!!!!! Very Sad~!
I live and ride a lots in Central Florida and I have noticed not difference. I've just returned from the Leesburg Bike Fest and probably 90% were lidless. And no, I don't wear one.
Pokeraddict, I am in Ocala, we should get together sometime.
I'm from Orlando and itstill seems the majority ride w/o helmets, including one of my best riding buddies. I personally just got my first "1/2" helmet last year after riding HDs for about 5 years. Before that, I always wore a Simpson full-face helmet I used to wear road racing in the SCCA, but is now obsolete. When I used to instruct a large percentage of students would ask me "How much should they spend on a helmet?" My routine answer was, "How much is your brain worth?"
Wear a helmet or not......that is what choice is all about.
I want gov't to protect me from You.....not me-from-me.
More people injured in a shower than most other places......
but no, the State of Florida allows riders to ride without helmets if they have
health insurance.
