I want to say I think its only a discount on new bikes. Oh well it is super motivational to have a bike in the garage! I will tell you its going to be the shinest best polished harley for the first 5 minutes i get to ride again. Things are going well and they get better every day. Everyday I seem to notice something better or more that i can do that I couldnt do the day before. Thanks to all the members for their continued support in my healing process. I really dont think an average person knows what it means until they are wearing the shoes. Well to all continue to ride safe as always. Oh and by the way i think the better halfs part discount is pretty attractive?
Glad you seem to be on the mend. And congratulations on the new bike. Were you able to pull any usable mods that you may have done to the bike off before giving it to them? Just curious how it works. Like if you are able to go get accessories that you added to bike, to add to the new bike...
Ok so heres how the mods thing worked. Yes there was a ton of usable stuff that I could have pulled of the bike and for sure would have. My insurance totalled the bike out. They gave me a retail price for the motorcycle and then as far as accessories went I got 75% of the retail value on them. Being laid up with the leg I couldnt even get over to where the bike was at the girlfriends house to strip it before they came to look at it. I didnt want to strip it because I thought they were going to fix the bike. The adjuster came out and took pictures of the bike with all my mods and now he has pictures of what the bike has so I cant take anything off! I have to start over. I am a little upset that they are getting some perfectly good stuff that I only got 75% back for. From what other people are telling me some insurance companies dont even pay out for accessories. I got paid for the bike, accessories, and the clothing and boots I was wearing as well. I made out ok and got a great deal on the new scoot. It is going to be great having the motorcycle in the garage now so I can take the time to mod it before I ride it and it will kill some of my free time. I just bought a painted inner fairing so I will be doing that and thats perfect because it will take me a while especially because I well ya no for lack of a better word handicap so it will be the perfect time to do it! I wont have to wait until next winter! A lot of you guys keep mentioning my good attitude! Its seriously the first step to recovery. Whats done is done and now I have to fix what is done. There is nothing I can do to change what happened and instead of sitting there feeling sorry for myself and saying why did this happen to me? Well everything happens for a reason and you know what I am a firm believer of that! The other thing is having the friends and family to help you get through this. I will admit i get frustrated with myself because you want to maintain independance and it is hard to ask for help with something as simple as carrying a plate. You cant get mad because again it all comes with the injury. I could pick and choose what I want to be able to do or not. For those people that have been injuried you seriously need to laugh about it joke whatever it takes to keep smiling because if you dont the 6 weeks drags on! As for me with all the stuff I have sitting that never made it to my old bike and maybe a few parts that last minute sneaked themselves off my bike "totally unknowing to myself!" and that painted inner fairing, the time i am laid up might not even be enough to get the new one going. Like I keep saying thank you to all of you who even just veiw my post and especially to those who reply. It helps. I really want to say thanks to the members that have extended offers of any kind. This forum has some of the greatest members that you could have ever hoped for! With the amount of people that just veiwed the post even though they all dont leave comments it really shows a sincere concern for every riders saftey no matter if they know you of not! Thanks again to everyone!
glad you are not too jacked-up and on the mend. 75% on accessories is GOOD , let them have it. you dont want any old stuff on your new ride anyway well......... maybe a momento.
First of all, I am glad your doing alright. Congrats on the new bike. I am a son of a retired Columbus Fireman and Axeman MC Supporter. Get well and get back on that bike. If you ever make it to Ohio lets ride, I have plenty of Fireman buddies that ride also.
