I share your pain, my lower right(kicker)leg was crushed into 8 pieces back in Nov. As I built the bike myself I have to rebuild. As soon as I was cleared by the doc, I went out and kicked the bike over a few times to assure I could. I then stripped it so the frame could be straightened(frame guy should be done next week). I have a big window at work facing I10 between Houston/San Antonio and hearing the bikes daily is frustrating as hell. Have been ordering parts and set up with a good bud who does dynamite paint. Did attend a 4 day rally last week and got to put a few miles on an old freinds softail, that was Great! Good luck to you!
Ready to go when the frame comes back!
Well its not good to sare your pain and I am sorry to hear about your bike as well. Its a very nice looking custom! I think that half the fun is going to be being laid up so I can sawp of paitend inner fairings and to put all the parts back on that I want. I ordered an ultra classic tourpack that I get to play with and put on that should be fun wiring the speakers and hunting for a backrest. I am really looking forward to it as I am not going to let this get me down! It will happen slowly but surely and I can think of this as like half of winter! Except this time I am down and bike is sitting there but I have to time to play and not miss out on riding time. Plus I really like surfing the forum.
I have to admit I'll use the opportunity to upgrade some things and modify my riding position a little. Always felt the forwards were an in or two to forward and the Cobra seat was fine 10 yrs ago when I had a butt. Over the years I've collected a few ideas to improve it, now I have the chance. Atleast I'm up and about, the leg aint perfect but I can work with it. Just got a late start taking the bike down but things are coming together. The frame work and painting will determine how soon I can kick it and ride. Assembly will be a snap, I've done it before!
Godspeed on your recovery my friend. Your positive attitude is an inspiration in itself.
I wish you well with your new bike, and hope it turns out better than you expect.
I wish I lived closer to you, so i could cheer you up in person, or help you with your new ride, but with the attitude you have, I'm sure you have more friends than you can shake a stick at.
