Default PI$$ED - Need Opinon

Ok so I am stationed overseas and finally pulled the trigger on a new Street Glide. today was supposed to be the big day, BUT, here is what happened.

When I first saw the bike I noticed one of the rims had what looked like corrosion on it, and a small spot on the engine. Well today when they pulled it out to detail it, the corrosion was so bad that they told me they cannot sell me this bike. Minutes before the registration was done, I got a call from the dealer saying they could not sell me the bike and they would have to order another one. Should be here in about a month or so, but don't know for sure. I guess it is better that it was caught now. I then get a phone call saying to hold on, because there is a guy in the local area that polishes chrome / aluminum (rims) and he was going to look at it.

My question is should I take the bike if he says he can take care of it. My frame of mind at this point is if I spend that much money on a bike should it have to go to a body shop before I get it? Ultimately I feel I'm am buying a refurbished bike for full price, which is not sitting well with me. Maybe this guy will be able to hook it up and pretty easily and no one will ever be able to tell. But is it going to need polishing yearly, monthly never. This is so frustrating. I was so pumped about getting my bike. This is a Harley Davidson, I am paying for the name and reputation, although through a 3rd party military dealership, this should not happen!!!!

Up to you, but I'd wait for another bike. That really sucks!

if you dont want to polish your wheels, youd better change the wheels out to chrome or black. these wheels get pretty dirty pretty fast and aluminum is a pain in the *** to polish.

If it was me...I'd wait for another bike...JMO.

Seems a bit "wishy washy" to say "we can't sell it" one min & then "wait a min" another. Also, my question is why there are such bad corrosion spots on the "new" bike? Are you right by the ocean or sea?

Is it just oxidation on the wheel?

Wait for a different bike, this sounds like trouble down the road.

Cool

Sounds like the selling dealer did the right thing. And, upon further inspection they may have found other issues. You need to wait.

Rims are fixed-repaired all the time. Do you have a pic of it?
If the shop repairing the rim does decent work, it shouldn't be a problem.
If that's all that's wrong with the bike, I would have the dealer pay for the repair and take the bike.

I presume younare buying from AAFES car sales, tell them to go to a local dealer and swap the items out or treat like a warranty repair and have the parts ordered and installed by a local dealer.
