I bet the guys waiting are getting bikes with ABS. All the bikes I see on dealer floors don't have ABS and there's been a delay getting the bikes in with ABS.
I wouldn't wait. Buy off the floor. Have your dealer call around and see if they can findwhat you want at another dealer and ship it in. They do that all the time.
My buddy wanted a Crimson Red Sun Glo Road Glide. The local dealer found him one in the color he wantedand had it in less than a week.
It's HDs way of saying buy out inventory.. we're not going to pay overtime or extra shipping so you can have your for-special order. Big pain int he *** for HD, Dealers and you for having to wait.
I just called around and went through about 5 dealers before I found the right option/colors, ...MSRP and out the door. My local dealer still does all my service and all is cool.
Why is it so hard to get a bike off the floor. What is done to you bikes to make them take so long. The dealer here in Alabama has about any color or style you want. Can they not getone from another dealer sent to your dealer
I ordered my Ultra (candy red with security and ABS) and they told me about 6 weeks. I can't remember exactly when I ordered it.
My original build date was April 4th, to be picked up a couple work days later. It was a little late, but I was able to pick it up April 19th.
I wasn't in a hurry and my dealer couldn't find a bike with that color and ABS, that also didn't have a bunch of extras I didn't want. So I could have had a local one with ABS, but maybe it would have cost an extra $2,000 with upgrades (wheels, chrome, silly looking windshield pouches...).
