Default Security system question?

How can I tell if my 05 RKC has a security system without having the hand held device? In other words if it were disarmed, and the hand held button were lost (or is that even possible), how could I tell if its there? Its kind of a weird deal, the ignition has been replaced with a miscoded key (in other words when the dealer runs the vin to order keys for the steering lock, the number does not match the number on the keys I have for the ignition) and cannot unlock or lock the steering. So this is why I'm wondering about a posible security system.

Owners manual has an on and off sequence where you use the left and right blinker to activate or turn off the system. That would be the only way. If it is off..you can turn it on. If the sequence doesn't work..then apparently you don't have one.

Ok, so I went to the manual did the on off on off on then hit the left TS twice and got two flashes on the turn indicators as well as the flashers. Book says two flashes indicate north american domestic system. Does that mean it has a security system or is capable of having one? Where would the sirein be mounted if it has one?

Why not just let the dealer order the proper switch, or possibly just the lockset for your bike and put it back like it supposed to be? As far as the security system, there's a procedure for replacing the key fob and marrying it to your security system in your owner's manual. Since your bike showed a North American system, chances are it already has a security system and you just need the key fob. I'd take it to the dealer and let them sort out what you need. It'll cost you less in the long run if you put it back like it supposed to be and save you a bunch of headaches in the process.

Just MY $.02

Where would the sirein be mounted if it has one? Security unit would be mounted behind the ECM. If it is not there you will have a hole measuring about 3" x 4" x 3/4" right behind the ECM.

Found it! Is the siren part of that unit or would it be mounted somewhere else? I have ordered a keyed steering lock to match my ignition switch, just got to thinking if someone lost ignition key then they replaced the ignition with the wrong one I'm thinking it might have been repo'ed and did'nt get the original keys or FOB switch. That's what got me looking at the security system in the first place.
