I am ordering there large windshield from clearview for the passenger comfort . And my question is regarding the $50 vent they can add to the shield. Anyone like or dislike the vent? Is it supposed to help with buffeting? I ordered it without but with 4-6 week lead I suspect I can add it if recommended. Did not know if it is some cheap piece of plastic glued on or what. Thanks, Rethy
Clearview uses the samevent that is used in the Honda Goldwing, so it's a quality piece. I ordered a Clearview shield for my Road Glide and I added the vent because I really liked it on the Goldwing I used to have. I don't know for sure how it will work on the RG, but on my Goldwing it would direct a nice controlled cool breeze at your chest or face on hot days.
I suspect that on a RG, it will depend on how high the windshield is. On a shorter shield, the vent might not make any difference at all. If the windshield is tall enough to direct wind over the top of your head, I'm hoping that the vent will be very useful.
I have a 16" Clearview with the vent on my 2000 RG and find that it does make enough of a difference in the air pocket especially when riding in clear air (no trucks or other traffic nearby) that I am glad that I got it on mine.[sm=biker2.gif]
