Protect-all. It's all I use, except for 50%-50% solution of hydrogen peroxide and water for the bugs. I've tried all kinds of other stuff and was skeptical about the Protect-all. Once I tried it and saw the results, I was sold. It works on EVERYTHING! And a bonus, dust doesn't seem to be attracted to the bike at all!
I have an old glass cleaner bottle I mixed some harley wash into water. Spray on wipe off it works very well. Regular old paste turtle wax on it once a week or so, no problem.
For cleaning bugs of the windshield, fairing and chrome, I use Auto Windex which has no ammonia and works like a charm. If you just want to remove road dust that shows up in sunlight, try the swiffer duster. It's a swiffer on a handle and also works like a charm.
Checkout a product called "Collinite's No. 845" It will give you a surface that is slick as glass with an unbelivable shine. http://www.epinions.com/reviews/Coll..._Insulator_Wax
Use a good cleaner 1st, then do the painted surfaces with the 'Collinite". It lasts seemingly forever and bugs etc. wipe off with very little effort.
I've been using it for years on all of my vehicles and, on the bikes, cleanup after riding is quick and easy.
There are 2 good reasons for owning a Vivid Black bike:
1) Nothing looks better when they are clean
2) Cleaning them is what Sunday morning hangovers are for

I was gonna say paint it red. I have a black 1996 eg thats in the shop now going to red. Should look clean longer then 5 min LOL. I hate spending all day cleaning detailing every spot top and bottom of the bike just to have it look like **** 5 min after i ride it. Thats I have a hard time finding it in a lot full of mostly black bikes. The red I am useing is gonna be a custom blened color will post pics as soon as i get it back. Here is a pic of it when i bought it in sep did a few things since then. 1st thing was remove the f****ckin tassels. and ad a radio.
I havea black 99 Metric lowrider that looks as good today as in 99. It has never had anything except Pledge on it except for maybe once a year when I use a low pressure car wash to clean the bottom, tire wells and other hard to reach places. After the wash, I use Macguires wax.
Just as with my EGlide, I wipe her down with Pledge before or after most rides. Onlytakes about 10 or 15 minutes.
