I see your message was posted at 4 am. If you have a solution to making the RK fork deflectors work on the SG it would be really appreciated by many of us FLHX owners. Love the bike but hate the updraft. I have a taller windshield and Kuriaken dragon Wings and the between the forks baffle from HD but need the fork deflectors to keep the wind from pushing up under the glasses etc.
Look forward to your response!
No, I didn't try them before the AUX lights, I put the custom lights on, well, just because. Then I got to looking and thought I bet I can make the deflectors work. And I did. It is really simple, all you need is a dremel tool. I don't know what it would take to mount them with the turn signals in the stock position. As soon as my daughter gets home with the digital camera, I will post a pic.
But I can tell you this, Unless I get lower fairings, they will not be coming off. And I took the center fork baffle off and all is good and I think removing the fork baffle made it run cooler, but until I get the oil temp gauge ( that is next) and test it both ways, I cant be certain.
I have a 2006 Road King Custom that I put the same style blinkers that come with your street glide. I added the chrome wind deflectors to mine but had to modify them to fit. I can post some pictures but it might not be until this weekend. I used a hole saw to cut through mine to fit around the blinkers. It has not weakened the wind deflectors enough to cause any problems. I have run them for over 10,000 miles. I have gotten several complements on how they look. I didn't want to add the driving lights so, that is why I modified them to fit my bike. Measuring them was the hard part and its takes a couple people to cut them because of they way they are shaped, too hard to do it by yourself and make them look good. Hope this helps and let me know if you want me to post pictures?? Thanks
I have them on my SG and love them. I did have to modify them and they are against the back of turn signals,(I have the Custom aux. lights installed) this could be alleviated by drilling a hole where the point of the bullet signal hits the deflector. they also contact the highway bar at the same time the forks hit the stops. this would also be alleviated by drilling the hole to allow the deflector to be a bit more forward. Now these things do not bother me as the benefit of the deflectors far out weigh the other . will try to post pics tonight
have any pics bro? then I could better understand. very interested in this mod!!
