I have a Garmin Zumo 550 & have it wired to the acc out on my 08 Ultra.Garmin is sending me a replacement wire & they have replaced the handlebar mount as they had a few of them that were defective. My problem is when I hit the front brake comming to a stop or just setting still the unit looses external power & switches to the internal battery(the unit states 'do you want to continue on the internal battery?')I remember a similar problem on my 05 (also w/security) TSS after installing a Corbin heated seat that caused the stop lite to stop working & the dealer needed to reprogram the TSS in order for the heated seat & lite to function properly.Anyone out there have a fix or had a similar problem? Thanks in advance & regards,Tom

Try wiring direct to the battery to rule out some kind of problem with that conection (maybe put a meter on that wire and watch for a voltage drop when brake is applied). What could be happening is, your FOB could be interupting that circut for just a second (just enough to cause it to go to the battery mode). Temporarily hooking direct to the battery will rule that out.

Im having the same problem, I'm hooked up directly to the battery. Every time I come to a stop until I put some throttle in it, the unit stays on battery
go to radio shack buy 2 connectors, cut off the connectors at the back of the cig lighter... twist cig wires and gps wires hook into new radio shack connectors plug back into lighter....bing your done.......
oh yeah take off outer fairing first...... would have taken me 30 minutes but my dumbass wanted to check power first and shorted out a fuse by touching the lead of my meter to both posts on the cig lighter.... so you throw in the time it took to find a new fuse and all it was about 16 hours..... all the stores were closed....[:@]
I have the same problem power goes from the bike to the internal battery. I just got a new craddle from Garmin, but have not tested it. I have mine hooked up to the accessory plug under the seat using the HD pigtails.
