Not only did my HD trim ring have the gap, but it also whistled in the wind. I had that damn HD trim ring on and off many times trying to get it right.
I finally decided to get the Headwinds Trim ring, and wow what difference. One piece billet and super easy to install. Here a a couple of Pics. I went with the Vampire Trim ring.
After reading here of the problems with the HD Visor ring, I ordered one anyway hoping I would get lucky. No such luck, I have the dreaded gap.
Does anyone know if someone else other than HD makes the visor ring? I can live with what I've got if I have to, but would like to explore theoptions.
I've done the search thing, and in some old posts, it was said that J&P has them, but I can't find one there. I put a piece of chrome pin stripe tape over the gap as someone else here has done. It looks better than the gap but I can still see it even if no one else notices.
Got my frenched headlamp trimring from Custom Chrome (NO GAP)
You might try to loosen the stock ring a bit more
it took me about an hour to get it right.
These must be made inconsistently. I just returned the visor ring the other day because of the gap. Fussed with it about an hour, scratched my stock ring[:@]then finally said F'it. I even took the stock ring off and fitted it inside the trim ring, the trim wouldnt even close that way, the stock ring was too big. I tried all the above mentioned solutions with no success, congratulations to those that got a good fit.
