LOOSEN the screw that sets the original trim ring until it is fairly loose. Slip the NEW RING OVER the stock one and fit it into place. tighten the new ring, when almost tight, gently, with a small screwdriver snug up the screw on the STOCK ring a little, not too tight. Continue to tighten the NEW RING, ride your bike and tighten after each ride and your gap will disappear. The set screw on hte new ring will hold everything fast and in place. I have had mine on and off several times and not had a problem yet.

Well I did manage to get the gap closed. It is still not the kind of finished fit I would like to have, but it is virtually closed. I can still slip a piece of paper through it. Its better than the chrome tape I had on it.

It does seem to be a matter of getting the thing behind the existing ring just right. Also the inside of the visor ring at the seam, seemed to want to bend in as I tightend, leaving a V shaped gap. I took some long nose pliers and a rag of course and gently bent those edges out. That allowed that part to come together much better.

Thanks for all the responses with tips and advise. I hope this thread helps someone else get their gap closed like it did mine.

Just installed the headlight visor ring on my 08 SG along with the Aux, Tail, and turnsignal light visor rings. Just followed the instructions with no problems. Can someone tell me where the gap is or post a picture of the gap?
