Mornin, I just changed my transmission oil, used Redline synth. no shock, I need to know how much oil the tranny holds I put the whole quart in... nowI know I did not drain out that much. If I overfilled I will drain some out.
Can the trans. be damaged if the oil is "overfull"?[&o]
You may develop a leak around the shifter shaft, That is what happened to mine when I overfilled it. Just drain some out and ride on. Seal was not replaced, that was 5,000 miles ago. Redline Shockproof also.
Worst case is that the oil expands and dumps out the vent after a long hard ride.
Either that or drain it into a clean container and re-fill checking with the dipstick for the proper fill level,My02's transmission is full with the bike upright and the dip stick resting on the threads and the oil level is bewteen the marks on the stick.
What type of oil whee you running before the switch?
Rob
Your gonna make a mess, when the oil gets hot it expands and it will blow oil all over the place. you can suck it out, go to the auto parts store and get a cheap anti freeze tester. I know WTF anti freeze tester but it works good for sucking oil out after you over fill I keep one for just that purpose.
Thanks!!.... looks like I need to remove about 8 oz. I didn't check the dipstick, before I drained...
7000 mi the oil didn't look too bad, I think it was the original oil from showroom?? could that be, the original owner said he never changed the tranny oil
