My spare spade are taken, my radar dectector, so i cut the ends off the cig lighter, tied in the zumo and put female connectors on with the cig and zumo... plugged it back into the back of the lighter and done...
I went down to Radio Shack and bought a real nice adapterplug for my cig. lighter. I have put about 1,000 miles on the bike with it wired that way and am more than happy. There must be a reason that every one hard wires it in to the back of the lighter and to the battery but I have had no problems at all. I have the tunes blasting from my 2 GB memory card at all times that I have the bike running and the Zumo is working perfect..Oh yes, thisis on a 08 Ultra Classic

Just bought a Garmin Zumo GPS, any suggestions on how to wire it into my 2008 Ultra Classic? Where is the best place to hook the wires? Getting ready to head to the Jazz Fest in New Orleans to see Jimmy Buffet will check when I get back. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I used the spade connectors for the Zumo, but the last time in the fairing I wanted to wire my garage door opener to the bike & dump the battery. Looked at usin' the cigarette lighter, but when I saw that it was the same circuit I just cut off the old spades from my Zumo wiring & doubled the Zumo & door remote on new ones & plugged 'em back into the spade connectors.
I just purchased a Zumo 550 for my 08 UC. What an awesome tool. I haven't yet had it hardwired to my bike, but with all the above suggestions I'm going to get this done asap. Taking it from bike to car/truck, etc. is quick and easy. Thanks for all the above tips!
