Default Gps

Just installed a GPS clamp to my bars so I can hook up my car gps to my bike. They say the Garmin that I have is not MC friendly but I cant see spending $500- $700 for a motorcycle gps. Its prob not water proof so I have to pick my days to use it. The battery lasts they say up to 8 hours and I have a power cord I made up to hook directly to my battery tender for the long trips. Heres a pic tell me what ya think

Check voltage coming out of the lighter cord. If it's 12V then you can dump the adapter and hard wire the unit. Here's a great deal on Zumo 450

Is that a Harley speedo mount? It's all one piece with the handlebar clamp? Do you have a part number?

Its a Ram mount from the web site I listed. It fits on the handlebars fine and they send you (2) U clamps depending on the diameter of the bars. As far as the mount itself goes you search for the mount thats made for your GPS. I havent tested it yet so Im not sure how the glare will be and as far as hardwire I chose to keep the quick connect only because I will be using them between the car and cycle. I may decide to order a new power cord then I will hardwire it.

I used a bicycle reflector clamp to put my Garmin on the handlebars. Mounts perfect and looks like I bought it for that purpose.

Mine's a Ram Mount Aqua box with short arm. It's supposed to be waterproof, but I haven't tested it yet. I'll say it's water resistant because of the power cord coming out of the box. TomTom 330 XL. Glare is evident, but not that bad. I just have to learn to look for the information I want on the screen (turn which direction on which road how far away?).

You can also use a plastic ziplok bag slipped over the gps and rubber-banded to secure it.

I have an all weather 12v DC adapter soldered to a battery tender connector, then connected to the battery tender connector I have hard wired on the bike. From the GPS to the DC adapter is a standard Motorola mini usb/ car charger cord.

I also use the ram mount for My Garmin Quest on the Sportster, For the sun I have covered the GPS with a Glarestopper sun screen and that helped alot . I have the GPS pointed at Me straight out not up so it is a little closer to Me . I'll try and get a photo of it today....WVleo

Here is my set up, not waterproof but I use zip lock bag when that happens. For a $149 GPS w/4.3" screen, compare to a $500 motorcyle GPS, you can't beat it. The bottom line is a functional GPS.

Hotlap, to answer your question, even those GPS in the market that came with anti-glare screen, you do get a little no matter what, I have tried both. The rammount is nice, you can always adjust the angle to achieve a better view.
