Did a quick search, still trying to get around on here but with no luck. But what i want to do as many of you might have done is put on the quick detach kit for the tour pack on my ultra. Who has done this mod? How hard is it? What did you do with the wires for the rear speakers and antennas? I want to be able to have the tour pack off for bombing around town and then be able to reinstall for the trips. Any help would be great.
I have a EG Classic with wiring into the tourpak. I went detachable and simply cut my wires under the seat and installed quick disconnects. Now all I do is remove the seat, unplug the wires and remove the TP. I went with a hidden antenna in the fairing so I didn't have to use the relocating kit for that and I believe there is a kit for the cb. I just can't offer any insight for the rear speakers.
Also i heard a nasty rumour that the front speakers will not function once the rears are disconnected. I personally don't believe this, but i haven't tried it yet?
I ordered 2008 FLHTCU and it will be in June, I went to the Parts and accessories department at our Haley dealership and they told me that they didn't have quick tour pack removals for new FLHTCU, since 2003 I believe he said, when he told me thisI could not believe this...Is this true!!!! I have some friends that have them on there flhtcu of course they have2002 and later models, so why would HD stop making thequick tour pack removal kits for the new models!!!
I have an 08 FLHTCU. with a quick release. Yes the front speakers still work without the back ones plugged in. I relocated the ant
for the radio into the inner fareing. The CB wires and coax, I just leave disconnected and curled up under the seat, cant see me ever useing that. Most of my rideing is local and solo. When the wife comes with me, It only takes a minute to convert the bike over.
I run a badlander seat when ridding solo.
I got it from the local HD dealer.
part #'s
53276-04 2-up Detachable tour-pak rack
53804-06Kit, Docking Hardware
Double check with the Dealer, I had alot of other stuff done, I just looked over my invoice
and from what i can see those were the only parts that were used. They dont have any wire
harness for the quick release, but you can plug and unplug things.
This winter, I will make my own quick connect wire harness for it.
They also used a 53376-97 Licence plate holder (it was used). But you may want to relocate else were.
I later put another licence plat holder lower down so I was able to put a strealth Luggage Rack on for looks.
THANKS!!!! I will double check withe the Dealer, because I really want that for solo riding, I just hope they will hook me up with this!! Thanks again!
Richpend, you will need 2 6 pin quick release, got mine from Radio Shack, that will get the speakers and controls done on each side. Also your tour pack taillights, I spiced and swapped ends and put the connectors under the seat for those also. The unplug inside the pack, now everthing is under your seat. Just did all this a abouttwo months ago myself. As others said hidden ant, and cb coiled up under seat. I'll try to get some pics and send them if you want. Hope this helps.
