I have been pricing baggers checking out colors, and went to dealer yeasterday. The parts guy told me that the parts are about 200 bucks for qiuck removable tour pak on an ultra, but he said labor was about 12 hours!! that makes it over $1ooo to do this! One dealer told me about $1500. I think I'm gonna get a more basic model and ADD the tour pak.
The parts from the dealer was $300.00. and Labour was 7 hours @ 82.00 an hour.
I looked, and they did put in a couple of wire plugs. wiring is not complicated.
I was lazy, so I had the dealer do it, but I dont think its that difficult to install it.
Before you go cutting wires, everything already has plugs for quick disconnect. I have an 05 Ultra, and I have done a quick disconnect setup on an 08 Ultra. Both antennas have a disconnect under the tour pak liner. The rear speakers have a disconnect plug shoved inside the speaker pod. You don't think the MOCO makes workers hard-wire everything when a plug is much faster for assembly? Just coil the wires up under the seat in the frame. You won't have the radio or CB, but the CD player still works. And the front speakers still work even though the rears are disconnected. You can get a powered in-the-fairing hidden antenna if you want the radio to work.
The installation is not hard to do. Just take your time.
This is not a difficult job and you shouldn't have to pay a dealer to do any of it. You will need the following parts:
53303-07 $329.95 MSRP Detachable our pack rack kit (comes with rack, docking hardware, antenna relocation kit and chrome license plate holder) or if you want to go with the antenna wire in the fairing you can use part # 53276-04 $179.95 with docking kit # 53804-06 $54.95 and buy yourself a laydown license plate holder part # 113 from Kuryakyn $39.99.
All the antenna's, tour pack lights and rear speakers can be disconnected and rolled up abd stored under the seat.
Detachable tour-pak kit HD# 53303-07 was 263.96 from Chicago Harley Davidson.
Has everything in it to do the job complete, including the new license plate bracket and the antenna relocation wiring and hardware.
Easy installation and straightforward instructions. Took about 2 hours, after removing the bags and seat....nothing to it.
