I joined the HOG chapter at a dealer closer to where I live than where I bought my bike. Didn't buy there due to a jerk salesman. Dues are only $15.00 per year and I get a 10% discount on parts and clothing. The Ladies of Harley put on a little dinner before each monthly meeting which is pretty good. It's a nice place to socialize with other people who like bikes. Hope I'm not starting to sound like a recruiter for HOG! [&:]

I was a member of Battlefield Hog for awhile. I volunteered for a few functions and they had alot of runs and stuff but I didn't participate much simply for lack of time. I would give the local chapters a thumbs up for their activities.

That'd be great if you like to socialize but that's not me.
Not only that, but the nearest chapter is at my dealer, 50
miles away. I just don't have the time.
Thanks for the insite though,
Membership in a local chapter is optional. You must be a member of HOG national (www.hog.com) before you can join the local chapter. Even if I did not like our local chapter I would still be a national member.

That's me. Been riding since I was 16 years old. Most of my
friends ride. When I'm in the mood to ride with someone (and that's not often; like twice a year) I don't have a problem finding someone. I was more interested in stuff like roadside assistance, discounts on parts, chrome do-dads but it seems it's just a social club with no real substance other than socializing.
I don't need new friends, got all I need as it is so I don't think I'll be joining.
No offense to you guys that are members, it's just not what I was looking for.
Thanks for the input.

Hey Chrizzby. Nearest chapter to me is 50 miles away and since I'm really not a social animal by nature anyway, it's just not worth the hassle. I have one (well, maybe more than one) fault, I don't get into something unless I plan on giving it 100%. I couldn't do that with my time constraints so I'll just stay back in my little patch of heaven, 1/2 a mile from my nearest neighbor (and he's my brother and knows not to bother me) and enjoy the solitude.
Appreciate the input though.

I like the part about the roadside service. Guess you chapter is one of the better ones. Others have not given as good a report.
I have the 5 year extended warranty on mine. Hope my dealer is as good as yours.
Thanks for the reply

That's about what I figure and I didn't know about the $25 bucks to the local chapter.
Thanks,

I get a weekly calender email from my dealer telling me what the
local chapter (that they sponsor and hold the meetings at the dealership) is doing for that week. Rides, charity stuff, social events, parties makes up the majority of what they send me.
Just not that interested in what they have to offer.
Thanks

Well put Dash. I've looked into what my local chapter offers and
even though some of it looks like fun, it's not worth the time I'd
have to put into it; to me.
Thanks,
