Long post but here goes .....
Wife got a 2007 SG back in June of 2006 (the 1st one our Dealer got).
Well the rest of the Summer we rode together her on her 2007 and
me on my 1998 FLHTC and I was impressed how easy she kept up
to me and when I did ride her bike I liked it even more.
By the end of the Summer I wanted a 2007 model and needless to say I got
one on April 1st, 2007. Now I really noticed the heat on these buggers ...
Well I tried a few experiments since we had similar bikes.
She liked my Lowers so I installed a set on her SG.
So now we do have basiclythe same bikes.
First thing we got for both bikes was the oil temp dip stick.
Next her's got a HD oil cooler. Since we always ride together the
following experiments we easy. Everytime we stopped we check oil temp's.
The oil cooler dropped temps so mine got one next.
She complainted of the heat issue still so I installed the KuryAykn
ones on her bike. They helped, better than nothing at all.
Temp's still running near the same on both bikes.
Then I see RJs Originals being sold here at HDforums and even tho the
price seamed high I wanted to give them a try seeing all the GREAT
reviews they were getting. I got them and the install was a BAZILLION
times easier to install the the KuryAykn's. Now for the 1st test.
Rode 40 miles to work in the city andUSUALLY my nuts were roasting at
the last stoplight and I would do a tippy toe dance waiting for the light
to change. Well not THIS TIME ! I was very impressed with RJ's product !
Now the best test .... Do a long ride with the wife and check temp's.
Well believe it or not (and I can't explain why) EVERYTIME we checked
my bike was 10 degrees or even a few more COOLER than her's.
The ONLY difference between her's and mine is the Heat Deflectors !
You can make up your own mind BUT after the first 80 degree riding day
this year with her and we happen to do some stop and go riding through
a City she reminded me of a PROMISE I made her last Fall .......
Yes ........
The order was placed and her RJs Original Heat Deflectors will be at my door step by this Friday !
Thanks .... RJ ....
I bought the kuryaykn smoked clear ones for my 08 street glide, only to later find out that they don't fit with the 6 gal tank. that was after I spent 2 hours reading and re reading the instructions and trying to figure out how to put them on my bike. They are currently sitting on a shelf in the garage. Guess my nut$ are gonna fry this week when we go to myrtle!
