Got back from Texas. GREAT ride! Dodged hail storms and tornado warnings and never got wet. Windy in the Panhandle, crosswinds had even the semis pulling off the road, so I stopped in Amarillo the first night. Wind was blowing hard the next morning, but from the north, cool, a tailwind. It was 46 degrees at sun up. Warm enough for this Colorado boy. Got gas in Lubbock and only used 2.04 gallons in 116 miles, the wind isn't always a bad thing. Got to San Antone the second afternoon. The Hill Country was more beautiful than I expected. 80m.p.h. speed limit on I-10. The Texas drivers are really courteous. Signs say "Drive Friendly" and they pretty much do. Loved the sweepers and hills from Sonora to San Antonio. The road is carved through white rock in places, it's beatiful. Did my family stuff in San Antone, saw the Alamo, river walk etc. and went west to see my Dad's grave at Ft. Bliss.
My '07 Street Glide with the 103" and a couple of other tricks was better than I could have ever expected. Life is good. Got a few pics, here's me at the Alamo.

It is obvious that you didn't drive through Dallas or Houston. Glad you enjoyed the visit to our State. Hopefully I will be able to reciprocate with a trip to CO later this year.

+1 Glad you liked it. I'm planning a trip to Durango next month, first trip to Co. on bike for me. I can't wait. I may get to move to Kerrville, TX for a year to work on a project. I'll be taking the bike along! I love the Hill Country!
YeahI also had a great trip to Texas this weekend, weather was good and it's been years since I've been there, I forgot how niceTexans are.As soon as I got homeI had to pack and leave again for Baton Rouge for my annual in-service training, so as soon as I get a chance I'll try and post some pics of our trip..."D"
