What a mess, I can't find it and I can't find the paper work. I'll have to stop by the dealer and get duplicates. Can someone tell me what the "r" and the number that follows is all about on the odometer. I'm not terribly dumb, just mildly stupid so I undersatnd the total mileage, the a and b tripmeter, and yes I understand the clock so keep the comments mild please. What I don't get is the number and the letter r reading. What in the world does that measure..... What is it telling me? 08 FLHRC with a SE speedo.
I ran it down to lo. Didn't want to see how accurate it was. When I did fuel up, it didn't take the full 6 gallons (EGC), but I also didn't try to squeeze every last drop of fuel into it.
No problem..."r" is for reserve- or calculated # of miles until burn-out (aviation term). On mine, when I get down around "r10" the indicator will change to "Lo". I'veridden about 10 miles on the "Lo" indication and put about 5.2 gal in at thefilling station.
According to the owners manual it is miles remaining till you get to push. IMO it is not very accurate. It decreases far faster than the odometer increases. Use it as a guide but don't count on get the miles indicated when it first appears. Lo means somewhere between one gallon and none. Best not to depend on it.
