I installed Hog Tune Speakers this past Christmas. up until that point I had trouble with the radio display fading in and out. finally took the bike back to the dealer about a month ago to get the radio replaced under warranty. Last week the display started fading in and out again. I can tap the screen and it will come back on. Warranty expired two weeks ago, so guess I will live with the display issues until winter and then will put in the Sony radio I've read about here.
Anyway , while riding to work this morning, the left speaker started to crackle. The crackling got louder as the RPM's and speed increased. I turned the radio off, and the crackling continued.
At idle the crackling dissappears, anything above 40 MPH and it's there and very loud. Even in Mute it's there. Also still there with the AVC turned off. I'm thinking a ground issue, but find it wierd that it does it even with the radio off. Any thoughts or suggestions before I pull the front fairing?
Thanks
If the radio was brought it prior to the warranty expiring and they haven't fixed it not sure why they won't fix it under warranty? You'll probably have to pull the failing to see if any ofthe wires are damaged. With the "crackling" the speaker is probably shot
