Default New Thundermax and heading to the Beach

I need to know what you think here. Should I wait or is this a good time to get it in. I have a T-Max on order and should be here by this weekend. I have already welded in my O2 bungs so installation should be quick. I have an 06 Ultra by the way. We leave out Saturday morning for Myrtle Beach Bike Week. I only live about 2.5 hours away. Since were rideing I am thinking this should be a good time for the autotune to tweak itself. Question is; do I need to put in a new ECU the night before heading out away from home? Or should I wait until after the trip so if Murphy's Law kicks in, I'm closer to home. I have been waiting for almost a year to get this thing, and finally bit the bullet.

Well that really depends on how confident you are. It's not hard but you really should'nt rush it.
I would install it but thats easy for me to say cause I've done it already.

On second thought,,,, the base maps are pretty good but I would wait till you can do a bunch of short runs.
It makes the adjustments when you restart it not on the fly. At least that's the way I understand it.

I am very confident in me just unsure of the TMax. I actually tune turbo'd cars on a mustang dyno at a friends shop, and install them. I know that the AEMs, and TEC IIIs can be picky untill dialed in right. Don't know much about this one and how plug-n-play it really is. Sure would hate for it to skip and crap for the first three hours of a long drive.
I guess I may need to wait till I get back. As soon as we start out out Saturday it will be a 150 mile ride. Don't really want to have to stop every 30 minutes to stop and restart the bike. Wife doesn't know I am putting the TMax on anyway. She might start to wonder why I am having to stop every half hour!!

She might ask you why the bike seems to be running so much better too.
