Default Best riding glasses

Hey guys I thought I would share something with you all. I have been on a year long quest to find some good riding glasses to wear. I paid about $80.00 for some sun glasses from the HD dealer last year but the big problem is I have a heck of a blind spot. I tried another pair that were not from HD and they scratched the first time out. THEN!!!! I was looking through a Grainger catalog at work and found Harley Davidson safety glasses!! $14.00!!! I bought 3 pair of different tints one of those being clear. I LOVE THESE glasses. no blindspot and they have the anti scratch coating. I needed the clear for night riding.

Check em out

Wiley X . They are pricey but nice. I have a a pair of goggles with interchangable lenses and a strap or frame . Has a case for lenses and frames and all interchange quickly. have changed themall thetime and they hold up well for over 2 years. $120.00 but I used to buy $20 goggles 2 times a year before that.

I had panoptex (sp) for 2 years. Nice glasses but very $$$. I was looking to replace them or rebuild them, but I foundhttp://www.riderseye.com/ from a member here. Prices are cheap and they are great glasses. Bought 4 pairs 2 for mr and 2 for the wife all for under 85.00 with shipping.

I am one that REFUSES to pay more than $25 dollars on sun or riding glasses. These are pieces of plastic. There is not gimmick, option, marketing plow, or BS that will convince me the cost is worth it.

I bought these grom J&P Cycle:

LTD GT 'sungoggles'

Built like sunglasses, but with thick foam eye cups, these are the sunglasses that think they're goggles. Swept-back design features rubber ear pads and G-Tech™ red mirror lenses with up to 13 layers of titanium dioxide and silica on shatterproof polycarbonate. You get UV protection, enhanced contrast and minimal glare in a scratch-free lens.

under 20 bucks including shipping.

During the day I wear either my Gascans or my Thump 2's from Oakley. Little pricey but I paid good money to be able to see (Lasik back in 2000) so I'm willing to spend a little cash to protect the eyes. No foam eye cups but the shape of the frames does a great job of blocking the wind. Plus the Thumps have a built in mp3 player so I have tunes. At nightI use a cheap pair of riding glasses (with foam cups) since the mean ol' sun ain't out to blind me. They work great and cost me under 20 bucks.

Over twenty bucks, under forty ..... I have had the basic pair of these for eight years and I beat them to death. The lenses change easily, the stash bag doubles as a lens cleaning cloth and they are virtually indestructable to have lasted me this long. I'm thinking about buying another pair just so I don't have to retrieve them from one bike if I decide to take out another. ( too damn lazy to walk a few more steps [8D])

I just wanted to add, I agree they overprice this stuff, especially if it says motorcycle apparel, but I have this take on eyewear and footwear, take it for what it is worth. Why is it, the two things we probably depend on the most(hands could be in here, also), our feet and eyes are the things we shopthe cheapest products for? Simpkins, those are a good deal and appear safe, what I'm saying is if someone gets slapped by a rockor even a big bug in those WallyWorld $10 glasses and pays a hospital bill, or worse yet, lose an eye, an extra few bucks looks like a sweet deal.

Thanks for the info all. Wiley X for me for now. They have been worth the $$ imo but I'm always looking for options.
