Didn't mean to get ya upset. Sometimes getting your information elsewhere can be the most current. For motorcycle related laws, I use the AMA website (they are current and aware of pending changes).

Until recently, Illinois was a helmet free state. Can't really say that anymore. The city of Chicago requires a helmet to be worn when riding a motorcycle. That information is not posted on some of the websites that list the helmet laws because it is not a state law, it's a city ordinance.

Of course helmets are a great safety precation, but what do you say to the folks who tell you it would be much safer not to ride a motorcycle at all. Everyone should be free to make their own choices as long as they are willing to pay for the consequences of their own choices.

That's your opinion. You know what they say about opinions..................they are like a$$holes, everybody has one. I don't wear one unless required by law and I have been in three wrecks on a street bike, all while wearing a brain bucket, and have nary a scratch on the helmets.
