Default New Road Glide.. Sissybar/ Back rest

Well its official I'm a new Harley owner!! I just brought home my first HD a 2005 Road Glide Custom. It has an 88" S&S motor and too many other goodies to list. It looks wonderful parked next to my 05 Sucker Punch Rigid. I can't wait for the sun to rise tomorrow so I can hit the road!!!!!!!

Now for my question... I'm looking for a sissybar/ back rest to add onto the back. I upgraded to a Harley so my girlfriend can come ride with me (she didn't like the comfort level on the rigid). I want her to be comforable while still maintaining my coolness level! Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I bought the detachable medium height backrest and the detachable tour pac. I love the set up. I can strip the bike down for soloor add what I need for a long trip or when the wife and I go out for the day.
Congatulations you aregoing to love the RG.
Oh yeah my wife loves the comfort level on the Road Glide.

That depends on the commitment level with the g/f. If you REALLY love her, you'll get her a tourpack/backrest.

Here's the short detachable sissy bar with backrest and luggage rack, it's a good combination for my petite (short) wife. The pic is actually on my '07 Road King, but I now use it on my Road Glide. I also purchased an Electra Glide seat and use it when we are touring two-up - she finds it more comfortable than the stock seat.

Here's the Electra Glide seat on the Road Glide, but with a different combination of backrest and luggage rack. Seems like I would have a picture of both at the same time...

Might need to experiment a little bit at a local bike shop or maybe with a friends bike that already has a backrest on it. Before I ordered mine, I had my wife sit on my buddy's Road King with the medium height backrest, which worked well for my wife [5'9" or so]. But I had the stock EGS seat which was about 2 inches or so taller than the stock Road King seat, so we folded up a towel to approximate the seat difference and found that the medium backrest with a stock touring seat was too low for her. So I ended up ordering the tall upright instead.

When I've got the Street Glide seat mounted, the tall backrest is a bit too high, but she only rides with that seat around town, so overall, having the tall backrest for her comfort worked out best. Nice bike, you'll enjoy it so miuch, might sell that rigid!
