Trouble Installing HogTunes
So, after all the raves about HogTunes, I ordered a set of front and rear speakers to install on my UC while my front faring is being painted. I started the install two hours ago. Initially I thought this would be the easiest upgrade I ever did. After removing the stock right speaker, which was relatively easy (it required quite a bit of torque to remove the upper screws), I started installing the HogTunes speaker. The upper screws for the stock speaker were hard to remove, so I wasn't too concerned when I found them difficult to reinstall. Until that is, I broke off one of the screw heads. I had a heck of a time removing the broken stub. I figured I would get a shorter screw tomorrow. Then I removed the left stock speaker and started installing the HogTunes speaker. After working on this for a minute or so, I realized the top of the stock speaker is about an inch deeper than the HogTunes. So, the HogTunes should require a shorter screw. This is probably why I broke off the stock screw; it bottomed out. Fortunately, the screw broke before puncturing the inner faring. I will need four shorter screws for the upper mounts of the HogTunes. I wish the manufacture had alerted me to about this, or preferably included the correct length screws with the speakers. Anyone else have this problem?

I installed a pair ona 06 EG and no problems like you describe... Must be some sort of change in your year. I have never seen this posted on any of the boards I visit.

I receive my Hogtunes yesterday and i install with no problem .i have a UC 07, 2 long screw on the upper and 1 short on the bottom the install took about 5 minutes for the speaker only

I've never heard of this problem and I've installed the Hogtune speakers in batwing and shark fairings. I'd call Pez and ask him about it before I tried anything else.

Never hear anyone say there was an adapter! Do you know what years the adapter is for???

I brought the biktronics gt 520 kit for my 2007 flht .It came with speaker adaptors 77047-98 that tilted the speaker towards me.The adaptors on the bike where 77046-96a they where not tilted

you are doing the same thing and making the same mistake that many customers make installing the J&M speakers,,,, in your Ultra ,,,,,
REMOVE the stock Harley speaker from the plastic spacer and install the New Hogtunes speaker into the plastic spacer in the same manner as the stock speaker was installed into the spacer ,,,,,,, then put them back in ,,,,,,
also ,, pay atttention to the wire spade placement position so that the speaker wires reach and attach correctly ,,,,
