I have an 07 RKC. When I shift it sounds like the primary chain is slapping, I guess you could say. More noticable in the higher gears. Aren't these supposed to have automatic adjusters? Any advice on how much slack should be in the chain? Thanks.
The 07 has an auto adjust that usually keeps the chain on the verge of overtight. You may want to have the dealer check it out to see if there are any broken parts in the tenesioner if you hear noise from it.
Are you sure it's not actually pinging that you're hearing?
Its not pinging, you can feel it when you let off the gas and then get back on it. Feels like the primary chain snaps back when you get back on the gas.
my 07 ultra did that.took it in and service dude said its a quick fix.took it right there in the parking lot ,accel real hard then got on the rear brake real hard, turned around did it again stopped right by me,(got really P.O.ed).he said that the racheting of the engine tighings up the chain.didn't belive him but after riding it chain was quiet. go figger sometimes they do know sumpin

Thanks, I will try that in the AM. Will post up if it works of not.
My 07 Ultra does the same thing. I've got around 4000 miles on it and I notice the same thing when you get on the gas quick you can hear it take up the slack and when you get off on the gas real quick you can hear it go slack.
I thought mabe my primary chain tensioner wasn't keeping the chain tight enough. I was going to ask the dealer this weekend about it.
Another thing I find annoying is I swear I can hear the cam chain constantly rattling away.
I already had the IDS installed and it did smooth out the ride and make the trans rattle go away. Hell I can even get into 6th at 60 miles per hour now.
Report back if you find anything about the can chain tensioner......I'd be much appreciative.
I'll do the same.
